Gosport Access Group and Disability Forum (GAGDF) are looking for a Treasurer to  join them as they strive to make the Borough of Gosport a more accessible place for all residents and visitors, regardless of ability, disability, impairment or other access need.  They achieve this by working with local authorities, businesses, services providers and others to improve access.

GAGDF are a group of volunteers, all of whom are either disabled themselves or have other direct lived experience of disability.  A wide range of different impairments (for example: physical, sensory, cognitive) are represented in our group.  Anybody who is disabled or who has a personal / professional interest in disability / accessibility (for example carers) is welcome to join us.

We aim to resolve access issues when they occur, but we also do a lot of pre-emptive work to prevent issues from happening in the first place.

This is an opportunity for someone with business/ financial experience to join us as our Treasurer, and who can:

- Oversee our financial affairs, and ensure that financial records and procedures are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice

- Ensure that proper accounting procedures and controls are in place

- To oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements/financial report (including at the AGM)

- General book-keeping

- To liaise with designated people about financial (including banking) matters.

- To ensure any recommendations of the verification body are communicated to the Management Team and that any approved changes are implemented.

- To ensure accounts meet the conditions of contractual agreements with external organisations such as funders.

The Treasurer role will also include:

• To advise on the financial implications of GAGDF's strategic and operational plans.

• To advise on GAGDF's fundraising strategy.

This role is a co-opted Officer position on GAGDF's Management Team and is voluntary.  The role is open to those aged 18 years and over.



• General office IT (eg Excel, Word, Outlook, Zoom)

• Literacy and numeracy

• Planning and organising

• Bookkeeping, preferably with an understanding of how a small community interest group (such as GAGDF) functions

Please note that GAGDF (including the elected members of its management team) comprises people who are disabled or who have some direct interest with disability (eg family members / carers).

Availability Details

The majority of this role could be conducted from the volunteer's home/office at a time which suits them. It is anticipated that the normal time commitment will be between 1-4 hours per month but this may vary with the time of year and the schedule of any ongoing projects. Additionally, the Treasurer will be asked to report into the bi-monthly Forum meetings and Management team meetings as necessary. This could be done either in person, by remote means (eg Zoom) or by proxy (ie through briefing other committee members in advance) There may also be meetings with third parties such as: bank, GVA, funding organisations, etc.
