This is an exciting opportunity to support the school community and make a difference to children’s lives

·       Support the school community

·       Be part of improving the educational outcomes for our children?

The Governing body has a strategic role; governors do not get involved in the day to day operations of the school. Its key functions are to:

 

·       Set the vision and strategic direction for the School

·       Agree the aims and objectives for the school

·       Monitor and evaluate school progress

·       Hold the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils

·       Ensure financial resources are spent well

You would be expected to….

 

·       Attend six Full Governing Body meetings a year (two per term)

·       Be responsible for monitoring a particular area of the curriculum

·       Meet with subject leaders and submit reports on progress (once per term)

Skills

·       Can bring energy, new ideas and enthusiasm to help drive school improvement  

·       Has an open and enquiring mind

·       Is prepared to question, challenge and hold the school to account

·       A strong commitment to the role and to improving outcomes for children

·       Good inter-personal skills, and a willingness to learn and develop new skills
