Gosport groups need you!
On Tuesday 6th June 2017, Gosport Voluntary Action, Citizen’s Advice Gosport and Loud & Proud youth volunteering group braved the blustery weather and took to Gosport High Street to promote the benefits of volunteering in the local community. With plenty of shoppers visiting the town’s market, it was a great opportunity to chat with people and highlight all of the volunteering roles available in the local area.
Mandy Bright, Community Engagement Manager at Gosport Voluntary Action said “Gosport has a vibrant and active voluntary sector with hundreds of groups doing their bit for a range of causes. Groups are always looking for help, whether it’s for a one off event or on a more regular basis. Without volunteers these fantastic organisations would not exist and a valuable support network in the community would be lost.”
Jules Arthur, Community Engagement Worker said “There really is a volunteering role for everyone, whatever your age, ability, skills, hobbies and experience. We have a number of very urgent opportunities to fill so we are doing everything we can to get more people involved. The benefits of volunteering are huge; not only will you be supporting a great cause but you are able to improve your skills, gain valuable experience, improve your self-esteem and maybe even gain qualifications. A volunteering role looks great on your CV and could even help you to find employment.”
