Job Vacancy: Youth Support Worker

05/02/2020

Part-time Youth Support Worker – 6 to 10 hours per week, £10.00 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Part-time Youth Support Worker, based at Gosport Community Association, Thorngate Halls.

GVA’s Youth Volunteering project called Loud and Proud helps young people from Gosport and surrounding areas aged 16-25, including those who wish to develop their confidence or those with support needs such as mental health challenges.

The aim of the project is to bring young people together to volunteer in their local community. Through our work, we give young volunteers the opportunity to develop their confidence and self-esteem, discover hidden talents and skills to widen their life choices and raise aspiration regarding vocation, further education and employment by trying out different types of voluntary work and training.

The project also aims to change people’s perception of young people through positive interaction with a diverse range of community groups.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and supportive individual, who has either worked or volunteered with young people and who has the skills, drive and commitment to successfully deliver this project as part of our small and friendly team.

You will need at least one years’ experience of youth work, preferably experience of volunteering or working with young people with support needs, local knowledge of statutory/voluntary organisations, excellent communication skills, use of a car and be accustomed to lone and flexible working.

Closing Date for Applications: Wednesday 19th February 2020
