Job Vacancy: Gosport Wellbeing Walks Project Co-ordinator

Part-time, 21 hours per week @ £12.44 per hour (pro-rata £13,584.00)

Terms: 12 Months (Extension subject to further funding)

Gosport Voluntary Action is recruiting for a Project Co-Ordinator to lead and develop our ‘Ramblers Wellbeing Walks Gosport‘ project, which provides a free and accessible healthy walking scheme to encourage measurable improvements to fitness and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be a committed and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about the benefits of walking for physical health and mental wellbeing, and motivated to support and develop our local community.  The position will sit within GVA’s busy and dynamic Community Engagement Team.

The main purpose of the role will be to expand the Ramblers Wellbeing Walks scheme in Gosport across additional health care settings and community hubs to offer more walk locations appealing to all ages and abilities, and to raise awareness of the scheme throughout the community, promoting the benefits of healthy walks. The successful candidate will recruit, train and support volunteer Walk Leaders to deliver the scheme across the Borough. They will also engage with Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) and support delivery and development of the innovative heritage and cultural element of the walks.

Applicants should have excellent communication, organisation and IT skills, as well as a good knowledge of the voluntary and community sector, in addition to experience of managing volunteers. An innovative approach with an ability to take initiative, coupled with excellent time-management skills, will also be required.
