Inspirational Learners are ‘Taking Part’
An inspiring morning was enjoyed when the eleven learners who completed Gosport Voluntary Action’s Taking Part course, showcased their achievements to invited guests at Gosport Discovery Centre on Thursday 11 July.
Taking Part is a six week course, giving learners an introduction to volunteering in a supportive environment. Learners covered topics such as communication and confidence building and volunteered together as a team throughout the course to plan the coffee morning showcase event.
The course was delivered in partnership with Gosport Discovery Centre and tutor Paula Ashby with support from mentor Becky Stephens did a fantastic job of supporting and encouraging the group throughout the six week period. Throughout the course the attendance rate was an astounding 100%, which given the challenges many of the learners face daily, is a truly extraordinary achievement.
The learners designed and displayed posters about themselves, detailing information such as their strengths, likes, challenges, and skills. Four of the learners also gave impressive presentations to the guests about their posters and what they had gained from the course.
The comradery and friendship within the group shone through and the guests heard not only how much the learners had gained from the course, but also how much tutor, Paula, had gained from the learners.
Gosport Voluntary Action wishes to congratulate the eleven wonderful learners and give sincere thanks to Paula, Becky and Gosport Discovery Centre for facilitating such a successful course.
Gosport Voluntary Action is running a similar course starting in October 2019 – more information can be found on our website here.
