GVA Calls in The Military!
Royal Military Police recruits from the Defence School of Policing and Guarding recently undertook a community engagement project at Gosport Day Services. The centre offers the opportunity for adults with learning disabilities to develop independence and social skills through various different activities such as arts and crafts and gardening. Arranged and co-ordinated by Gosport Voluntary Action, the day allowed the recruits to reach out to the local community and promote the RMP. It also enabled team building within the platoon outside of the training environment. A number of students and staff from Mytchett Platoon improved the garden area by weeding, planting and painting outdoor furniture. This provided a clean, safe and inviting garden area for all of Gosport Day Services visitors to use. In true military fashion the team executed the mission with enthusiasm, despite the wintry weather conditions. The results were fantastic, exceeding the expectations of the centre staff who expressed their sincere gratitude and thanks for the work completed.
