Gracias, Lluna!

08/08/2022

Recently, the team at Gosport Voluntary Action bid a fond farewell and hasta luego to our wonderful intern and marketing & graphic design whizz, Lluna.

Lluna – who hails from Barcelona, Spain, and is currently studying for a Certificate of Higher Education in Marketing and Advertising at EU Mediterrani – joined the GVA team for a little over two weeks on a work placement, facilitated by the IBD Partnership. Her home-base for her duration in the UK was with a local host family, just across the water in sunny Southsea.

As well as being a dab-hand with all things graphic design, Lluna is also fluent in Catalan, Spanish and English, and speaks some German, too! With so many skills to offer, GVA was thrilled to welcome Lluna into the fold, albeit for a short (but infinitely productive) time!

From eye-catching flyers to snazzy social media graphics – as well as posters that pack a punch and many other stylish creative products in between – Lluna whipped up an impressive marketing materials make-over during her brief time with us, which will be invaluable in helping GVA to spread the word about our many projects and services aimed at enhancing life for local Gosport Borough residents.

When asked about her experience at Gosport Voluntary Action, Lluna said: “GVA offered me the opportunity to improve my graphic design skills by designing leaflets and flyers for their various services. One of the things that really impressed me was how much they care about their community, and how they always find ways to help others.”

When prompted for thoughts or words of encouragement for potential volunteers or interns who might be thinking about applying for a placement at GVA in future, Lluna commented: “GVA is a lovely and welcoming place that teaches you lots of useful things. You get to see how they help Gosport’s citizens in many ways, and collaborate with them in different tasks.”

When not busy developing dapper designs for our leaflets or polishing up our posters, Lluna took the opportunity to explore the local (and not so local!) sights, squeezing in visits to London, Brighton, Southampton and even Manchester during her time here. Reflecting on her travels and highlights throughout her stay, Lluna said: “I enjoyed each and every place I visited, but the most unusual thing about my experience in the UK was the fact that I had to take a ferry to get to GVA! I had never taken a ferry before, so it was a really fun and different experience.”

We love this final quote of Lluna’s, and couldn’t agree with her more about the fun and joy of our beloved Gosport Ferry!

GVA would like to extend a heartfelt ‘gracias’ to Lluna for all her hard work and commitment over recent weeks. We will miss her skills and kind and caring nature dearly, and wish her all the best for the future.

If you, or somebody you know, would like to boost your skills and gain hands-on work experience through a professional volunteering role, GVA and its member organisations have plenty of opportunities, and would love to hear from you!
