Gosport Voluntary Action (GVA) is recruiting a new Chief Executive Officer

Based in Gosport, Hampshire. Salary Range £38K to £41K pa (pro rata 28 hours per week over 4 days minimum)

Are you passionate about growing the voluntary sector within Gosport and supporting local community groups to develop volunteering opportunities and enhance the life of residents?  Are you an experienced leader with a proven track record of shaping the strategic direction of a voluntary sector organisation?  If so, apply for this exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated, creative, passionate team who do so much to support the local community and voluntary sector.  The successful candidate will help shape the future of GVA and promote and represent individual voluntary sector charitable organisations within Gosport.

Our Chief Executive will be crucial to leading this important, local organisation into its next stage of development.  We are looking for a strategic, collaborative leader and excellent people-manager with strong communication skills, creative ideas, and the ability to oversee the delivery and implementation of strategy.  You will share GVA’s values, our commitment to our membership of over 200 local organisations and our empathetic and person-centred approach to our volunteers and beneficiaries.  You will show an understanding of the role of Councils for Voluntary Service within the charitable sector.

As Chief Executive you will work closely with GVA’s Finance Officer and a supportive board of Trustees to develop and drive the strategic plan for GVA; including maintaining and developing existing relationships with the local authority and grant providers and securing new sources of funding.  This is an exciting moment to lead the charity, building our recovery and renew phases after our Coronavirus response.  GVA has built a strong reputation for excellence in providing services with compassion for our beneficiaries in Gosport.

We support our member groups helping clients access a range of support within the Borough, we:

  • Provide advice and guidance to member groups to establish sound processes, governance and fundraising
  • Offer a brokerage service for volunteering with programmes to assist those with support needs,
  • Run the local community lottery on behalf of the council to help fundraising for local groups,
  • Provide volunteer befriending and advocacy services,
  • Arrange home cleaning, DIY and gardening services for residents as an agency.
