Befriending Volunteers Needed!

Chronic loneliness and social isolation can take a severe toll on our mental and physical health, as well as having a real knock-on effect on our confidence and self-esteem. For older or vulnerable residents who live alone and struggle to get out regularly due to health issues, frailty or limited mobility, the lack of regular social contact can be particularly harmful. This is certainly the case for many of our senior or disabled residents in Gosport Borough, and for this reason, Gosport Voluntary Action is urgently seeking kind, caring and committed Befriending volunteers.

By giving just one hour of your time each week to enjoy tea and a natter with a local older or vulnerable resident, you could make an incredible difference to somebody in desperate need of some company and encouragement. What’s more, regular volunteering has proven benefits, with many of our own volunteers commenting that their role as a GVA Befriender leaves them feeling cheerier and more positive about the world!
