‘Preparing to Volunteer’ course (starts Weds, 3rd May 2023)

“Everyone has the right to volunteer and should have equal access to positive volunteering opportunities without experiencing unfair discrimination.”

About the course

Gosport Voluntary Action’s Supported Volunteering Team regularly runs the ‘Preparing to Volunteer’ course. The course is open to people who wish to gain confidence generally, and hopefully go on to volunteer.

Topics such as communication, assertiveness, and course members’ strengths, needs and aspirations are discussed. Various teaching strategies are used, including role play. Course members have a workbook to complete and can receive a certificate of attendance.

At the end of the course, help and advice is offered to course members who feel that they are ready to volunteer. There are many opportunities locally and our volunteering team, Go Volunteer, can help course members find a suitable volunteer role.

Previous participants have benefited enormously from the course, have enjoyed volunteering – and some have progressed to paid work.
