Voluntary Driving Scheme – Driving Force
Gosport Voluntary Action have a voluntary driving scheme called Driving Force. This not-for-profit driving scheme is for older Gosport residents (55+) who:
- cannot access public transport
- are not entitled to Patient Transport
What can Driving Force help with?
- Attending medical appointments
- Attending social clubs and groups
- Visiting family and friends
How does Driving Force work?
All our drivers are volunteers who use their own cars and are all Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked.
Once you are registered with Driving Force, which is a free membership, we ask that you give us 7 days’ notice of any appointments and trips. We will endeavour to find you a driver, although we cannot guarantee this. Our Driving Force Volunteer Co-ordinator will contact you to confirm if we have been able to arrange a driver, who will then contact you 48 hours before your trip.
How much does it cost?
Customers pay 45p per mile directly to the driver. This includes the driver’s journey to the customer’s home, the ongoing journey, and return if applicable. The customer also pays for any parking charges incurred. Signed receipts will be provided.
How to apply
Please contact our Driving Force Co-ordinator on 02392 583836, who will send you a Driving Force Membership application pack. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on 02392 583836 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
