£10.00 per month for administration of the service – paid to Gosport Voluntary Action. The fee is to ensure a continuous and reliable service. It also enables us to recruit quality, reliable gardeners/handypersons to provide the service. Payment can be returned by post or paid by standing order if preferred.

Is there anything else required?

We ask that you are able to supply the materials beforehand, including tools, or alternatively give the DART and Garden workers the money to purchase any items before the work begins. DART and Garden workers have been instructed not to buy any materials without first agreeing the cost and receiving the money from the customer.

Money must always be in cash unless a cheque payment or bank transfer has been agreed.

An estimate of the number of hours it will take to finish the work will be given by the DART and Garden workers. Please let him/her know how much you can afford to spend before they start the work.

Gosport Borough Council tenants may be eligible to borrow tools from the tool library to maintain and improve their gardens for free.

Gosport Borough Council also offer a Garden Waste Recycling Scheme. More details are available here.

Further information

DART & Garden workers are retired/semi-retired people who are recruited on a self-employed basis. They are not professionals, however they are people with relevant experience and good DIY skills as well as being reliable, honest and trustworthy.

DART and Garden workers have submitted two references and have all undergone a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check. For your safety, they will carry Gosport Voluntary Action identity cards.

As we rely on locally based workers to provide this service, it may not be possible to do your work immediately. We will add your name to our waiting list and then contact you when someone is free to help.

Would you like to become a DART and Garden Worker?

We are currently looking for people with good DIY, manual or gardening skills to help us deliver this service. For more information or help with any of the above, please contact the team on 02392 503871 or e-mail homeserve@gva.org.uk
