What are GVA Walking For Health walks?

GVA’s Walking For Health project leads a variety of walks in the borough of Gosport.  Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy the great outdoors in a friendly and welcoming environment. All the walks are free and accessible and you don’t need any special footwear or equipment.

Our walks are led by trained volunteer Walk Leaders and give local people the opportunity to:

  • Walk at a pace they can manage
  • Improve their fitness
  • Enjoy the sociable company of others

GVA’s Walking For Health walks last between 30 and 90 minutes and suit people of varied abilities.

Take your first steps..

For an up-to-date walking schedule, visit GVA’s Walking For Health Facebook page.

Programmes are not currently being printed, but we hope to distribute walk details at GVA’s office, and in local libraries.  Please call the GVA Reception desk on 02392 583836 or email  for more information or if you have any questions.

No booking is required, so if you would like to join a walk, please simply turn up on the day! If you have any questions, please email or call 02392 583836.

Your questions answered…

Will attending a walk be suitable for my health condition?

For most people physical activity does not pose a hazard and can be of great benefit for numerous health conditions, however for more information please see our walking with health conditions section.

Are dogs welcome on the walks?

Registered assistance dogs only are welcome on the walks.

Are children welcome on the walks?

The scheme can only accept children and young people under the age of 18 on activities when they are accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or other person with equivalent responsibility for them such as a teacher or youth worker.
