Gosport Community Response
Gosport Voluntary Action (GVA) in partnership with Gosport Borough Council (GBC) delivered the C19 Gosport Community Response Project and supported residents from March 2020 throughout the pandemic. A team of trained, police checked volunteers were matched with residents in need and helped them on an ongoing basis, whether that be going shopping, collecting prescriptions or a regular friendly phone call.
We’re now moving into recovery and have closed our C19 Support project, however help is still available for those with no alternative options, via Gosport Borough Council – please see below.
We would like to acknowledge the incredible work of the C19 Community Response Volunteers over the last year. 83 generous individuals took on this role and more than 12,300 tasks were completed, and at peak times, the team of volunteers managed to make around 300 phone calls and 120 shopping trips per week between them.
The community response would not have been possible without funding from the National Lottery Community Fund and support from other local organisations, who worked together to support those in need across the borough. Gosport residents also pulled together, showing strong community spirit and contributing generous donations and hundreds of offers of help. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who was involved.
